NC State senior design team wins best presentation award

The NC State Nuclear Engineering (NE) senior design team won an award for best presentation at the American Nuclear Society (ANS) student conference in Spring 2015.

The team presented their design for a high-efficiency, single-volume neutron scatter camera (SVNSC), which can rapidly locate sources of fast fission neutrons at long distances.

The design team was led by Prof. John Mattingly and supported by RADIANS Ph.D. student Kyle Weinfurther.  The senior design project supports Sandia National Laboratories‘ work to develop and deploy an SVNSC for nuclear arms control and emergency response.

NC State NE seniors presented 4 design projects, and they won 4 best presentation awards.
