RADIANS M.S. student Zach Bailey took first place in the 2013 Institute of Nuclear Materials Management (INMM) student poster award. Garrett will receive the J. D. Williams Student Paper Award, a cash prize, and his paper, entitled “Digital Pulse Shape Discrimination with the XIA Pixie-500 and EJ309” will appear in an upcoming issue of the Journal of Nuclear Materials Management.
Zach’s research produced new, improved methods for digital signal analysis that enabled time-correlated measurements of fast (fission-spectrum) neutrons in mixed neutron/gamma fields. Zach’s work was supported in part by a grant from the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
